Dortmund-based GeoData+ GmbH is working with SICAD UTILITIES to develop a powerful standard solution for local authority transportation undertakings and regional integrated transportation systems. The principal tasks of the application are:
Graphical and alphanumeric resource documentation
System and information integrationDeriving / linking service information
Support for company-wide information, updating, maintenance and planning
Graphical and alphanumeric documentation for fixed technical resources:
Light rail, tram and bus route network
Line/stop network
Overhead traction systems
Power supply
Passenger information systems
Connection facilities
Journey and stopping times
Areas of business
Tariff zones
Display is on two map levels:
Reference map
Schematic map (schematic route map)
Display of details in individual maps:
Detailed map of stops
Detailed map of points
A modern and innovative interface is used to enter route networks, including overhead traction systems, as well as generating the routes operated by local public transportation. GIS-specific functions such as network tracing on the basis of the reference map or of alphanumeric data come as standard.

The routes are displayed directly from the network management system. Networking tracing based on alphanumeric data takes account of traffic-specific network information. SICAD-UT-PT‘s object-oriented, multisector data model is an updatable standard product, corresponding to the standard SICAD-UT data model. The structure and content of the data model are in line with the Association of German Transportation Undertakings (VDV) local public transportation data model. One of the aims in developing the local public transportation data model is to create a standard that can serve as a guideline for software vendors for exchanging data as simply and smoothly as possible. Transportation undertakings already use numerous systems such as operational control systems or planning systems. To ideally combine the functionalities of the various systems with the SICAD-UT-PT application, account is taken of the local public transportation data model from the outset when developing the application or the underlying data model. The SICAD-UT-PT application then serves as the basis for comprehensive, company-wide management systems.
