FEWA (Federal Electricity and Water Authority), United Arab Emirates,
FEWA (Federal Electricity and Water Authority), United Arab Emirates, decided to implement their enterprise GIS application based on AED-SICAD's ArcFM™ UT product suite and ESRI's ArcGIS® product family. The ESRI® distributor and AED-SICAD business partner GISTEC will implement the network information system jointly with MAPS, which is responsible for data collection.
The decision came after an extensive tendering phase, where all major network information system provider were present. FEWA is the most important Water and Electricity Utility in the Northern Emirates. FEWA supplies to more than 177.700 households electricity and water, the maximum power generation capacity is 1.152 MW which stems from 6 power station plants.
GISTEC along with its partners MAPS & AED-SICAD will provide the necessary technical consultancy to establish a strategic GIS Center for FEWA with the necessary hardware, software, data etc. The GIS center in conjunction with the current SCADA center will help to enhance the current technical maintenance and management of FEWA's electrical and water assets and to optimize resources in terms of time, personnel and support material during its activities. This will be directly reflected in an efficient service for FEWA's clients as well as for all public and private institutions that need up-to-date asset information from FEWA in the future.
The AM/FM/GIS Utility project has been designed to be implemented in phases, with the first phase mainly focusing on a Pilot project area within FEWA's area of operations. For this purpose, Western A - Ajman area has been chosen. GISTEC and its partner MAPS have collected data and other necessary information for this area to provide a comprehensive GIS solution. In the second stage of the project FEWA is completing the AM/FM/GIS project regarding further data capturing in the remaining areas. It also includes system integration.
