Eesti Gaas Selects ESRI and AED-SICAD Solution for Network Documentation

Tallinn, Estonia: AlphaGIS, fastest growing GIS solutions provider in Estonia, daughter–company of HNIT-BALTIC GEOINFOSERVISAS, ESRI distributor in the Baltic States (HB onwards), announced that major Estonian natural gas distributor and provider Eesti Gaas AS selected ArcFM UT by AED-SICAD/ESRI to document its gas network and support some of the operation and maintenance of business processes. The project will be carried through by three project partners: AlphaGIS (main contractor) together with its mother–company HB and German company AED-SICAD.


Currently, Eesti Gaas AS operates a local GasDisp application for design and network documentation. The implementation of a GIS-based asset and facilities management system will allow Eesti Gaas AS to take advantage of a streamlined environment for updating their gas network data. Functionality such as automatic network connectivity, a seamless database, complete set of editing tools, increased usability, and additional tools will create an effective solution for improving operations.


HB and AlphaGIS will implement the solution and provide the data and application services. Besides their standard application for utilities ArcFM UT, AED-SICAD will provide training, consulting and data modeling services. “We believe the modernization of our gas distribution network GIS will result in increased company work effectiveness, additional operational efficiencies and even better client satisfaction”, says Mr. Heigo Ojaste, IT Manager for Eesti Gaas AS. “Our company is looking forward to all the advantages and functionality of the system, including data automation and editing, spatial and attribute queries as well as presenting the network data on the map.”
